The headless post
I guess the title makes no sense. It's supposed to be nonsense, as the chinese people call it 'mei tou mei wei', or 'no head no tail'. But I'll just pen down some thoughts I encountered over tea with my mind.
Yesterday, while making frequent trips along marine parade road in attempt to buy brooms and shirts (not for me, but for sand city's purpose), I heard a faint singing voice behind me. Straining my ears to listen what it was, I noticed that a boy and his sister, around the age of 8, were singing national day theme songs. I can vividly recall the songs as 'We are singapore', 'Count on me singapore'. Though some verses were obviously off-tuned, but I could feel the sense of belonging and pride that these 8 year-olds possess. It is such a wonder to be able to listen to young children sing, their voices filled with innocence and happiness, as I began to understand how important National Day is. That significance. That pride.
I couldn't help but smile as I looked at those young beautiful eyes while alighting the bus. I doubt I was like them when I was young. I kept most of the things to myself. Such singing was rare for me unless it's during music lessons. But I believed that was a time when I listened with an open heart.
Yesterday was Sand City, and it was pretty eventful. But presently I guess I shall leave that aside. Not in the exact mode to describe the happenings yesterday. Haha...
I still dream of a place where I can experience the quietness of nature out in the open fields... alone or with someone...
