a public holiday where ties are strengthened
Touchdown in the lion city. Greeted by the warm humid air. Probably had heavy downpour the past few days.
Today: public holiday. Brilliant. Time for family to catch a movie together. But parents refused to get behind the cinematic screen to watch 2012, so I ended up warming my seat with my dear cousin. We both enjoyed the awesome effects. How technology has improved by the years, everything seems too real on that flat surface.
Met up with my parents right after the movie. Rendezvous point: Watson. Apparently there was a sale happening there. Definitely the YES (Year End Sale). The opportunity to attract recession-struck customers to the stores. Great timing for the dire economy to take off those worn and torn shoes and replace em' with new ones. The store hired a DJ along with a host (walking around talking to herself with the mike), visibly providing collateral discomfort to their neighbours with the deafening music volume and the occasional pauses for promotional speeches. It was filled with customers. Somehow their magic worked. The otherwise sparse shop was now occupied by energetic ladies eager to catch up with the latest make-up/personal maintenance 'gadgets'. I settled for 6 shaver head replacements; costs 26 dollars. That's almost 5 per piece! Disbelief; I probably could have 3 yoshinoya meals with that.
Trotted over to the campus crusade bookstore SALE (again) in Bradell to have a look. But decided that I was not actually looking for anything in particular. That was when I realised how distant I have been with my dear Father. Despite listening to christian music, reading christian materials, taking about christianity to my fellow non-believers while in Australia, something was missing. That missing part was my solitude.
Anyway, I was glad to have visited my grandma today.
