A little sniplet of life

Met up with June, Cindy, and Val yesterday afternoon for lunch to catch up with them. It was a time for the 3 of them (who went to 3 different universities) to come back, sit down and chit chat. Cindy had to leave early for a funeral, and when I found out who the person was, I was shocked. Life is so unpredictable. One moment you turn your head away, and that person may depart for another world unreachable with our human hands.

Joined some of my family members for dinner at night. Those present were my grandparents, all 3 aunts (including Aunt May from the US), Shawn, Pei Tian and his mom, and my parents. The meal was extremely disappointing and unworthy of the hefty 240 bucks paid for 8 dishes (which were either out of taste, or tasteless). I ate just 2 bowls of plain rice without touching the dishes (Most of them are seafood, so I had to avoid most of the dishes >.<) But putting the terrible meal aside, it was a time when I saw 3 generations share this common feeling of helpless sadness. My grandma was telling my dad about how she couldn't control the shiver from her legs and lower lips. As she was sharing, my dad teared, so did my grandpa, and eventually myself. The 3 of us (grandpa, dad, and me) sat right beside each other, and I took a snapshot of it. I saw that care, love, that surfaced in the eyes of the generations before me. And I begun to appreciate the family I have. Enjoy and treasure every single moment I have with them, as God may take them on separate journey in His time. I pray that God will watch over my family, and shower them with His love and mercy.

Woke up at 5.55am this morning, and went to fetch Nat from her house to ECP to join me in my devotion under the sunrise from the eastern horizon, as we munched on our Mcdonald's breakfast. It was a good moment spent with a fellow Christian, and we shared some verses learnt in our devotion. I thank You Lord.

End of Service Term

Today's the last day of Service term. Finished our 24km route march, got our senior bar at elephant hill. Acquired unwanted abrasions, blisters, and aching shoulders. But the spirit goes on. Pity to see the number of cadets falling out right after the senior bar presentation ceremony (but they were told to just walk back to camp instead). We all are suffering from the same problems, some could be worse, but all these pain and discomfort are part of what I consider training of the mind to endure hardships and pain. For overseas trainings, these painful moments would be common.

14 weeks have passed by. Those that are leaving have left. Even those that share the same room as you. They will receive their blue beret, while we proudly hold on to our bronze green beret. We'll see them again in 21 weeks time.

Good to see old friends when you're in camp. Basil came into OCS after finishing his FEP at Aus. My wing happened to be in charge of sharing our experiences as senior cadets with them on the first day of their arrival. Must catch up with him real soon.

I am glad that I have my section mates with me as I went through my service term. They are a blessing to me.

The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. -Isaiah 40:28-31

I do pray to God that I will hope in the Lord and renew my strength. Somehow my reservoir seems to be running dry, and I have to dig deeper. Only He can help me find that inner source of spring.

Tomorrow's my book-out day, but there's a 24km Route March before I see the camp gates. And my bloc leave awaits.

14 weeks. Pretty long eh.

Time to get my green beret.

I feel a little distant from the world..
